A BLACK TALENT INITIATIVE — HONOURING BLACK LIBERATION AND GLOBAL RESISTANCE

Our Theme

The Rhythm of Liberation: Black American Voices, Stories & Culture in the Ongoing Journey to Freedom

Juneteenth is more than a historical milestone—it is a living rhythm. A rhythm that moves through generations, echoing the ongoing struggle for freedom and the enduring power of Black cultural expression. From spirituals sung in fields to verses dropped in protest, the sound of liberation has always been unmistakably Black.

This year’s theme, The Rhythm of Liberation, centers the voices, stories, and creative spirit that have shaped—and continue to shape—the journey toward justice and joy. It honours the melodies of resistance, the harmonies of hope, and the artists, storytellers, and changemakers who carry the torch forward.

Because freedom has a sound. A story. A heartbeat.
And it’s Black.

This Juneteenth, we move in the rhythm of our ancestors’ dreams and our collective power.
